WASHINGTON STATE ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION
presents ANTERO ALLI Lecture and Workshop

Lecture (June 12) In this lecture, author/astrologer ANTERO ALLI ("Astrologik") presents novel ideas on how each of the planets can be seen and interpreted as specific colors in the vast spectrum and mystery of human sexual response. From the Moon's sexuality of deep emotional involvement and co-dependency to the electrically charged sex magick of Uranus, we will visit all the planets as legitimate sexual realities with their own integrities.

Also: Sat June 14 TRANSIT CLINIC WORKSHOP
This unique experiential workshop examines transits from Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto as it applies specifically to the natal charts of those enrolled.

for more details e-mail Karen Wennerlind, WSAA President, at
kwennerlind@comcast.net

The cost for the LECTURE is $5 for members and first-timers, $15 for non-members. If you wish to become a member, a $30 annual fee is also applicable.

"Quantum Splendor"

Pool, what are you doing? You know this topic deserves its own thread!

http://tribes.tribe.net/quantumsplendor
(from the tribe description)
Quantum:
breakthrough, giant strides, inspiration, leaps and bounds, quantum jump, radical change, transilience,

Splendor:
abundance, brightness, brilliance, ceremony, dazzle, display, effulgence, gorgeousness, grandeur, luster, magnificence, majesty, pageant, pomp, radiance, refulgence, renown, resplendence, richness, show, solemnity, spectacle, stateliness, sumptuousness, wealth

This tribe is a gathering of those that want the world to be better through their own personal change toward splendor by using new age methods to accelerate that change. It is a place where we are more concerned with growing "to be the change you want in the world" as Mahatma Ghandi stated.

Methods such as The Secret, Laws of Attraction, Abundant-Speak, Heal-Speak as well as others are very welcome here. Respect each others path. Offer, methods from your path. Don't force. Be the kindness you crave. Remember, wealth of the spirit is easy and effortless!

Begin and end with thankfulness and gratitude and you'll be a fearless warrior of peace!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7344381.stm

An Italian woman artist who was hitch-hiking to the Middle East dressed as a bride to promote world peace has been found murdered in Turkey. The naked body of Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo, 33, known as Pippa Bacca, was found in bushes near the city of Gebze on Friday. She had said she wanted to show that she could put her trust in the kindness of local people.

...

"Her travels were for an artistic performance and to give a message of peace and of trust, but not everyone deserves trust," sister, Maria, told the Italian news agency, Ansa.

Seems he had to cut his attempt to walk from England to India with no money because people for some reason mistook him for one of the dozens of other people trying to get from one place to another with no money ... oh, but HE is SPECIAL.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/02/29/nwalker129.xml

(quote)
After reaching Calais Mr Boyle made the decision to quit his trip because as he could not speak French people thought he was an asylum seeker or a freeloader and would not give him food or board.

The 28-year-old kept an online diary of his adventure, where in one of his final entries he wrote: "…they had also seen us as just a bunch of freeloading backpackers, which is the complete opposite of what the pilgrimage is about".
(quote)

Sorry dude, apparently that is what the "pilgrimage" was completely about as your inability to freeload terminated the pilgrimage.

longest DJ set you have ever played?

The other night I played a 9 hour dj set at a big house party in Hunter's Point.

Basically 3 mini sets... 8-12, 12-3, 3-5.

It was so much fun. I wasn't even altered (not because I would be, but that is the first question or comment I would get), but it was like a progressive party and new people kept coming. I was even able to sneak a couple of my faves back into the rotation on the back end.

Anyhoo... this is stupid, but I was wondering... you and other DJ's have to talk about long sets???

What is the longest you have heard of?

Tattvic Tides

http://chakratribe.tribe.net/thread/0f1834d4-7ef2-4a9c-819f-37142f4a03e4

"I have been examining the extent to which Tattvic Tides affect ritual work or simply the nature of personal experience either on a conscious or unconscious level.
There are numerous traditions (Vedic, Buddhist, Hindu & Tibetan Tantra) related to the Tattvas - some from Rama Prasad, another from Kapila Sankya and more recently the Theosophical Society and the Golden Dawn.
my question therefore is "Has anyone on Tantra Tribe worked with these harmonic waves and what effects have they experienced in their work?
It is usually presumed that these tides connect all natural phenomena and experience and like russian dolls there is a polarisation of a tide within a tide ad infinitum from the most gross to the most sublime. Calculation seems to require vast tables or a phd in mathematics and quantum theory.....phew!"

Polyamory
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polyamory (from poly=multiple + amor=love) is the desire, practice, or acceptance of having more than one loving, intimate relationship at a time with the full knowledge and consent of everyone involved. Polyamorous perspectives differ from monogamous perspectives, in that they respect a partner's wish to have second or further meaningful relationships and to accommodate these alongside their existing relationships.

The term polyamory is sometimes abbreviated to poly, especially as a form of self-description, and is sometimes described as consensual and/or responsible non-monogamy. Polyamory is usually taken as a description of a lifestyle or relational choice and philosophy, rather than of individuals' actual relationship status at a given moment. There is a certain fluidity in its definition, to accommodate the different shades of meaning which might be covered. Polyamorous relationships are themselves varied, reflecting the choices and philosophies of the individuals concerned.

Polyamory is distinct from polygamy, being closer to a personal outlook than a predefined bonding system. It is grounded in such concepts as choice, trust, equality of freewill, and the more novel idea of compersion, rather than in cultural or religious tradition.

Free your mind, but watch out for crabs
Violet Blue, Special to SF Gate

Thursday, August 23, 2007

While attendees of the yearly arts festival known as Burning Man come from all over the nation and the world, the impact of the costly desert bacchanalia is felt pretty strongly around San Francisco. Many rejoice at the sudden lack of rich hippies and art cars dripping Barbie heads and Legos onto the roads when fog breaks down cheap art-store epoxy, and the ease with which one can get brunch in the Mission. There are virtually no white dudes with dreadlocks for seven square miles. San Francisco smug levels ratchet back to tolerable in the absence of arty hipster trust fund brats and Web 2.0 lets-resurrect-Pets.com-as-a-vlog leeches. Super annoying guys don't hit on me in bars assuming I know what the hell they're talking about when they use terms like "the burn," "the man" and "off the grid."

And at house parties, there are no chicks that become uncontrollably drunk and then attempt to show you how they can "fire dance," accidentally setting fire to the host's potted plant/small dog/infant.

Making the e-mail rounds a few weeks ago -- and sent to me by more than one high-profile local sex educator -- was a snarky list of ways to "enjoy Burning Man at home." The list included many observations about the experience, like:

Before eating any food, drop it in a sandbox and lick a battery.

Stack all your fans in one corner of the living room. Put on your most fabulous outfit. Turn the fans on full blast. Dump a vacuum cleaner bag in front of them.

Buy a new set of expensive camping gear. Break it.

Get so drunk you can't recognize your own house. Walk slowly around the block for five hours.

Have a 3 a.m. soul-baring conversation with a drag nun in platforms, a crocodile and Bugs Bunny. Be unable to tell if you're hallucinating. Lust after Bugs Bunny.

Cut, burn, electrocute, bruise, and sunburn various parts of your body. Forget how you did it. Don't go to a doctor.

Pay an escort of your affectional preference subset to not bathe for five days, cover themselves in glitter, dust, and sunscreen, wear a skanky neon wig, dance close naked, then say they have a lover back home at the end of the night.

For those of us who work in the sexual health professions, it's the last bit that seems a bit mild. For while we San Franciscans might make fun of the event and its customers (and be intrigued by its lawsuits), we do love that it's a sex-positive, inclusive gathering that celebrates art and community, and fosters -- even strongly emphasizes -- tolerance among all genders and orientations. But what some of us don't love is the noticeable impact on local STD clinics and call centers when the "burners" come home.

Here at home among clinic workers and sex hotline operators, our thoughts are about the souvenirs that keep on giving long after the man has burned, you've thrown away a car full of garbage at a "leave no trace" event, and the ozone has thinned a bit more. Maybe it's a coincidence that local health workers have complained to me that they think there's a noticeable increase in STD testing around the Bay Area after Labor Day weekend, presumably from those who found bliss and new friends for life (of the genital virus variety) while spreading the, um, love and art at Black Rock City. According to one local clinic worker who requested anonymity for this piece, "What we usually see is both a weekly trend and a seasonal trend in STD and pregnancy testing. For example, Mondays are always the day we get lots of requests for Plan B. We see a huge rise in pregnancy and STD testing (and, more telling than the number of tests, the number of positive results) in the summer and around the holidays." Holidays like Christmas -- or Labor Day? To wit: The Man might be burning, but so is your ass. It's no wonder the attendees are called "burners."

Think about it. Before you go, have mock-Burning Man sex, just for fun. Lube up a condom with playa dust or the kitty litter of your choosing. Have anonymous sex with people who haven't showered or used a functional bathroom in a week; This is easily accomplished around Stanyan and Haight. Have a theme party featuring creative enlightenment peppered with drug busts, heatstroke and, um, community. Dolores Park is a good location for the last three on that list.

I have a lot of friends who go to Burning Man. But before you end up at Herpes Camp holding a cardboard sign that reads "will trade ice for antibiotics and Famvir," pack your safer-sex gear, boundaries and some sexual common sense along with that fabulous outfit you're about to ruin with dust and sweat.

Whether inebriated on community, ingestibles or gorgeous steam-powered art, not everyone is telling their potential sex partners that they're infected before engaging in sex acts -- or maybe they don't know they're infected, or are too filthy with playa dust to see an outbreak. When you're reluctant to screen a new sex partner (asking about STDs and using a condom), keep in mind that HIV will eventually kill you, herpes and HPV last a lifetime and the latter is linked to cervical cancer. Does that white Rasta hippie in caked clown makeup still look worth it?

Infections love dark, moist areas, heat and dirt, and unlike you, they get into Black Rock City for free. Carry baby wipes to keep yourself clean; Look for ones that are alcohol-free, unscented and pH balanced. Don't buy ones with added oils and moisturizers if you plan on using latex condoms -- and please plan on using condoms (not just for keeping your camera dust-free). Use latex or polyurethane (non-latex) condoms, and don't get any oil near your latex. You can use oil with your non-latex condoms but use lots of lube, as they don't stretch like latex and might break if they dry out. Avoid animal skin condoms at all costs, as they are not proven effective against HIV transmission. Buy and carry a pack of latex or non-latex gloves, as your (and your partner's) hands will be filthy, and genital contact with germs will give you an infection, especially if you can't clean yourself off afterward. Also, if you're not sure that your sex partner is virus-free, a glove for a hand job might save you accidental transmission of the virus or infection to your eyes, nose, mouth or elsewhere later.

And no, you can't just lick all the dust off and have everything be OK. Unprotected oral sex is still a risk. Going down on a woman is a low risk activity for herpes and HPV, unless she's having an outbreak. Then you're getting a gift that keeps on giving (yes, HPV can blossom like a pretty bouquet in your throat). One in three men and women carries HPV (genital/oral warts), and many don't know it because the virus might not show up for years. Use a condom when giving a new male partner a blow job if you want to be absolutely safe. If he objects, you know you have a loser on your hands (but at least not in your mouth). Additionally, you lower your risk for contracting an oral virus if you do not brush your teeth -- tooth brushing opens tiny cuts around your gums to make you bleed, giving viruses the ultimate ticket to the burn in your bloodstream. So that naked guy with socks and Birkenstocks with the gnarly, clotted teeth? Mustache rides are free in the desert, ladies!

Herpes Camp isn't on the map, but you should know your way around it. It's true that you can contract herpes when the virus is shedding (the period prior to an outbreak when there are no visible sores), but generally, people with herpes can tell when they're shedding, and won't engage in sex during this time. Medications like Famvir are extremely effective in preventing outbreaks, so if your partner discloses their herpes status but is on a medication such as Famvir and are in the clear for sex, your chances of contracting herpes are extremely low.

For a complete list of links and resources about safer sex, and to get questions answered, visit San Francisco Sex Information.

Author's note: I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record -- zero.

Greening the Burn? Nah.. I don't think so.

stepping onto my soapbox <shuffling feet>:

IT IS NOT WHAT YOU BUY, but what you do NOT buy. It isn't offsetting carbon... it is NOT expending it. Buying a hybrid doesn't make you green. Not buying another car when your first one works makes you green.

The nature of advertising and marketing is to make us feel us feel deficient of a product. And however green, it is still a product. The idea of consuming our way to a better world is asinine.

I think it is so important not to blindly ignore the duality and hypocrisy, but become aware of it.

I don't mean to be dower, or a downer... but this is the way I am taking in the world. It is a lot more complex than feeling like buying an organic stamped apple is saving the world, or that I can jet all over the world and $10 in carbon credits will absolve me of my guilt.

FIRST:: THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ARTICLE YOU WILL READ. Organic, fair trade, and local produce is WORSE for the environment (possibly.. but very difficult to refute):

http://www.decal.org/file/396

It is a very typical, and VERY American (not Canadian necessarily, guys) concept that we can "consume our way better"..... That we can actually consume electricity, and make it all better by buying wind credits, or buying certain types of veggies; all organic is doing is making something as prosaic as shopping for food denote your cultural, social, and educational class. Most people are simply trying to eat and feed their families.... let alone worry about these issues. Or afford the priviliged lifestyle that lets one "be green".

"the green debate is for white people"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/5074214.stm

as if zombie like consumption and shopping for good or consuming natural resources could ever be considered forward thinking, green, or saving the world.

Consume to save! good luck.

Lorin Bassnectar had an article about wanting (and being) more than a club DJ.. being more about raising awareness and conciousness... you know?

ANYHOO... he mentioned our culture of consumption. AND....

The culture of drugs* coupled with consumerism is very interesting to me... hence why I love zombies (mindless consumption, massive consumerism in the form of impending, inevitable onslaught.. you cannot get away, they will eventually consume you.. society consuming itself)...

... and why I am having so many problems with the playa. And why this year is REALLY REALLY irking me. REALLLLLLY.

Does anyone find it sort of.... well.. frankly... disgusting about the concept of "greening the burn"???

I mean.... I dig raised consciousness, but with the "clients" at the burn, you are probably preaching to the choir about being green...

the simple fact is that Burning Man is possibly the MOST CONSUMPTIVE AND GLUTTONOUS EVENT ON THE PLANET.

And the idea of greening that is ludicrous. It bothers me a lot.

Like carbon credits. Carbon credits DO NOT WORK. It is well documented at this point....
two reports here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/6378471.stm
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/sunday/commentary/la-op-dorsey1apr01,0,7611817.story

for some humour.. think of paying for a credit if you cheat on someone..
http://www.cheatneutral.com/

biofuels hurt the rainforests - not to mention 300,000 acre organic cattle farms that they are CLEAR CUTTING THE RAINFOREST to make way for.....

"the green delusion"
http://tribes.tribe.net/organicdebate/thread/17614a74-090b-4470-9284-1acd82cc76ad

CASTRO SLAMMING BIOFUEL... it impoversihes third world economies.
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6505881.stm

This is in light of some of the most complex, interconnected, and important political, environmental, and social aspects of our day.

You heard about the tortilla protests? (I talk about them all the time!)
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6319093.stm

organic food, local food, and fairtrade may be BAD for the planet...
http://tribes.tribe.net/organicdebate/thread/dcb5f316-2382-48d4-a9f4-68a4b15cb799
salon article on organics not being sustainable - http://tribes.tribe.net/organicdebate/thread/ba63d73a-6e41-4ff5-8413-2f19fd8b3d8f

easy facts on why organic, local, and fairtrade is worse than better for the environment

and food miles emit more carbon offload

I URGE ALL OF YOU TO JOIN THE TRIBE, and offer debate, data, information... ANYTHING to RAISE CONSCIOUSNESS!!!!!
http://tribes.tribe.net/organicdebate

It is time to truly care about fixing the world... and not buying into the bullshit marketing that has destroyed the positive environmental impact of our attempt to fix the world.

Instead of blindly letting ourselves be happy about consuming our way to a better world... let's talk, understand, and work towards understanding the complexity...

*AND* that is why the green is cool. Corporate sponsored technology, using the event as a sounding board world wide...

It is about raised consciousness... and this is what our wonderful friend angela is demonstrating. And carrying that awareness into every step and breath... is where it's at.

Let's end with one of the most important people ever, saying one of the most important things ever

It is about being skeptical.. and taking that raised consciousness... and discussing some more. In our effort to heal the world, this green movement may be making it more unstable. SO... let's get more data. Let's be skeptical... and let's sit on the fence together.

"In any organization there ought to be the possibility of discussion... fence sitting is an art, and it's difficult, and it's important to do, rather than to go headlong in one direction or the other. It's just better to have action, isn't it, than to sit on the fence? Not if you're not sure which way to go, it isn't."
-Richard P. Feynman

Well... now I am all down. I am going to plant a tree. Anyhoo.. if you grow your own veggies, ride your bike... etc... you are gold. Cheers to you.

Ms. Wilkie was a vegetarian in her teens, and even wore a “Meat Is Murder” T-shirt. But by her 30s, she had started eating cow. By the time she placed the personal ad, she had come to realize that ordering steak on a first date had the potential to sate appetites not only of the stomach but of the heart. Red meat sent a message that she was “unpretentious and down to earth and unneurotic,” she said, “that I’m not obsessed with my weight even though I’m thin, and I don’t have any food issues.” She added, “In terms of the burgers, it said I’m a cheap date, low maintenance.”

In an earlier era, conventional dating wisdom for women was to eat something at home alone before a date, and then in company order a light dinner to portray oneself as dainty and ladylike. For some women, that is still the practice. “It’s better not to have a jalapeño fajita plate, especially on the first date,” said Andrea Bey, 28, who sells video surveillance equipment in Irving, Tex., and describes herself as “curvy.” “You don’t want to be labeled as ‘princess gassy’ on the first date.”

But others, especially those who are thin, say ordering a salad displays an unappealing mousiness. “It seems wimpy, insipid, childish,” said Michelle Heller, 34, a copy editor at TV Guide. “I don’t want to be considered vapid and uninteresting.”

In fact, red meat on a date has become such an effective statement of self-acceptance that even a vegetarian like Sloane Crosley, a publicist at Random House, sometimes longs to order a burger. “Being a vegetarian puts you at a disadvantage,” Ms. Crosley said. “You’re in the most basic category of finicky. Even women who order chicken, it isn’t enough.” She said she has thought of ordering shots of Jägermeister, famous for its frat boy associations, to prove that she is “a guy’s girl.” “Everyone wants to be the girl who drinks the beer and eats the steak and looks like Kate Hudson,” Ms. Crosley, 28, said.

When Paris Hilton was arrested for driving under the influence, she announced that she had been on her way to In-N-Out Burger, the Southern California chain revered for its gut-busting Double-Double, as if trying to satisfy a craving for two slabs of meat and cheese was an excuse for drunken driving that anyone could understand. And twice last year, Nicole Richie, persistently facing rumors that she suffered from an eating disorder, was photographed biting into burgers in Los Angeles, an effort that seemed designed to demonstrate her casualness toward calories.

What about when the tables, so to speak, are reversed? Can a man order a juicy New York strip on the first date and make a good impression? Gentlemen, be careful. Real men, it seems, must eat kale. “When a guy sits down and eats something fatty and big, you wonder if they eat like that all the time,” said Brice Gaillard, a freelance design writer. “It crosses my mind they’ll probably die early.”

"I have never been but I've come close a couple of times. Sooo I am wondering if there are some cool people that are going from the central coast of Cali (I live in San Luis Obispo) and they would like some company.
My deal is that I have very little money, but I have brand new kitesurfing gear for sale or trade. I don't do drugs or drink. I meditate, dance, massage , do energy work, smile and have fun doing whatever else I do, though. If there are some compatible peeps out there that think we might be compatible let me know...
peace love and light....
thanks...
Save world one square at a time – and annoy Bush’s brain

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article1695705.ece

The singer Sheryl Crow opened a new front in the fight on global warming yesterday with a call for people to use only one sheet of toilet paper after each visit.

Her demand for a ban on excessive paper use came after a heated exchange with Karl Rove, President Bush’s chief political adviser, at a dinner in Washington on Saturday. When Crow approached him to demand that he take global warming more seriously, she placed her hand on his arm. According to Crow, Mr Rove immediately spat: “Don’t touch me!”

The singer has just toured the US on a biodiesel-powered bus to raise awareness about climate change, and made the paper use suggestion on her daily blog.

“I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don’t want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.”

Crow also said on her web-site that paper napkins “represent the height of wastefulness”. She has designed a clothing line with what she calls a “dining sleeve”.

It is detachable and can be replaced with another sleeve after the diner has wiped his mouth. “This idea could also translate quite well to those suffering with an annoying head cold,” she writes, but she does not prescribe how many wipes per nostril.
Vegans sentenced in baby's death

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2007/05/09/national/a071020D27.DTL

Fucking ignorant asshole fucks!!!. Reminds me of those fucking Christian Scientists who will let their children die rather than get them medical attention because it's "God's Will". Fuck that shit. I am so pissed off. Poor little baby!

A vegan couple was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for the death of their malnourished 6-week-old baby boy, who was fed a diet largely consisting of soy milk and apple juice.

Superior Court Judge L.A. McConnell imposed the sentences on Jade Sanders, 27, and Lamont Thomas, 31. Their son, Crown Shakur, weighed just 3 1/2 pounds when he died of starvation on April 25, 2004.

The couple was found guilty May 2 of malice murder, felony murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children. A jury deliberated about seven hours before returning the guilty verdicts.

Defense lawyers said the first-time parents did the best they could while adhering to the lifestyle of vegans, who typically use no animal products. They said Sanders and Thomas did not realize the baby, who was born at home, was in danger until minutes before he died.

Duck penises show arms race between sexes

http://www.reuters.com/article/wtMostRead/idUSN3046442120070501?pageNumber=2

An exception is ducks -- especially mallards. Although mallards pair off to mate, females are often raped by stray males.

Yet studies show that these rapes do not pay off for the males. "Even in a species where 40 percent of the copulations are forced copulations, the ducklings still are mostly sired by the mates," Brennan said.

"That implies the females may have some kind of mechanism that allows them to keep control of the paternity."

So Brennan's team looked at a lot of duck bottoms.

What they found surprised them -- corkscrew-shaped oviducts, with plenty of potential dead-ends.

"Interestingly, the male phallus is also a spiral, but it twists in the opposite, counterclockwise, direction," said Yale ornithologist Richard Prum in a statement.

"So, the twists in the oviduct appear designed to exclude the opposing twists of the male phallus. It's an exquisite anti-lock-and-key system."

Brennan believes females evolved convoluted oviducts to foil the male rapists.

"You can envision an evolutionary scenario that, as the male phallus increases in size, the female creates more barriers. You get this evolutionary arms race," Brennan said.

Only if the female is relaxed and cooperative can the male's sperm get anywhere near the unfertilized eggs, the researchers suggest.

"What I think is really cool is this does speak a lot about the ability of the female to have these cryptic mechanisms of choice," Brennan said.

And it may mean something for people. "We can expect that these types of antagonistic traits are probably widespread and are likely part of the reproductive interactions of all sorts of animals, including humans," Brennan said.

The study is available online in the Public Library of Science journal PLoS One at http://www.plosone.org/doi/pone.0000418.

Polygamous lesbians flee Sharia

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6599437.stm

A Nigerian lesbian who "married" four women last weekend in Kano State has gone into hiding from the Islamic police, with her partners.

Kano's Hisbah board, which uses volunteers to enforce Islamic law, told the BBC that the women's marriage was "unacceptable".

The BBC's Bala Ibrahim in Kano says Aunty Maiduguri and her four "wives" are thought to have gone into hiding the day after they married.

All five women, who are believed to be film actresses in the local home-video industry, were born Muslims, otherwise they would not be covered by Sharia law.

Mr Rabo told the BBC's Focus on Africa programme that if the women were found guilty of lesbianism they faced one of two punishments.

For a married woman the offence would be considered adultery for which the punishment is death by stoning. A single woman would be caned.

Our correspondent says the theatre where the colourful wedding ceremony was held was flattened earlier this week.

Several reasons were given for the demolition, including the discovery that it was built on wrongly allocated land.

Eyewitnesses say there was a large turnout for the marriage and guests were given leaflets as a souvenir showing Aunty Maiduguri surrounded by her "brides".

Two years ago, a Sharia court sentenced a man to six months in prison and fined him $38 for living as a woman for seven years in Kano.

Her longtime live-in boyfriend, Fritz Neumann, 40, cradles her right hand on his knee.

And she gazes googly-eyed across the table at her newest love, Chris Dunphy, 34, of California. They met in a Toyota Prius chat room in June, and their conversation was so intense he drove cross-country to her doorstep one day ago.

From the Boston Herald: http://thetrack.bostonherald.com/moreTrack/view.bg?articleid=196594

Singer Sheryl Crow wants us to spare just a square per flush and wear something called a “dining sleeve.” But when will she cut down on her gas-guzzling tour buses, tractor-trailers and cars?

And now here comes Teresa Heinz, she of the $35 million Gulfstream V, the speed boats - including hubby John Kerry’s 42-foot-long Scaramouche that gets less than one mile per gallon - and a fleet of fuel-sucking SUVs.

Ta-raaaaay-za’s the covergirl for N magazine’s upcoming green issue where she lectures us about how we can save Mother Earth. (Part II of the enviro-talk, God help us, continues in the next issue.)

Heinz and her senatorial spouse, as you are so aware, are peddling a new tome titled “This Moment on Earth: Today’s New Environmentalists and their Vision for the Future.” Even the title sounds wind-baggy. It was, however, printed on recycled paper.

In her Q & A with N editor Bill Ferrall, T gets excited about a lithium battery device, partly manufactured in Massachusetts, that gets 150 miles “to the gallon” when installed in a Toyota Prius.

“That’s amazing,” Heinz said. “It is a plug-in, so you plug it into the house.”

Seen any orange extension cords running out of 19 Louisburg Square these days?

But even though the ketchup heiress and her spouse jet between five - count ’em five - energy-sucking megamansions, Heinz puts her foot down when it comes to jumping on Nantucket’s perfect-lawn bandwagon. She says she refuses to spray the grass at her seaside home with chemicals that might damage the aquifer.

...

No word on whether the Scaramouche and the other powerboats will be in dry-dock this year. We have a feeling the answer to that one may be An Inconvenient Truth . . .

China was set to surpass the US in CO2 emissions in 2010, but due to slowing US emissions growth coupled with increased Chinese emissions growth, China will be number one this year. China's rate of emissions growth is such that they are ADDING the equivalent if the output of the entire UK every year. In other words, if we were to completely end all CO2 emissions of any kind in the UK, the reduction would be made up within 13 months by China and global emissions would be right back where they were. Curly lightbulbs aren't likely to amount to a pinch of owl scat in the overall scheme of things. When you add in the growth of India and Brazil to China's (all three countries are exempt from the Kyoto treaty)

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8OMPHM80&show_article=1

QUOTE:

China had been forecast to surpass the U.S. in 2010, but its sizzling economic growth has pushed the date forward, the IEA's chief economist, Fatih Birol, was quoted as saying in an interview appearing in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal newspaper.

"In the past couple of months, economic growth and related coal consumption has grown at such an unexpected rate," Birol was quoted as saying. China's rising emissions will effectively cancel out attempts by other countries to reduce their own, he said.

END QUOTE

From 1990 to 1996 the CO2 emissions of the US decreased by nearly 10 percent. China's increased 40 percent, India's by 48 percent and Brazil's by 35 percent.

this was in the burning man tribe, titled "free admission"

http://bm.tribe.net/thread/60950da3-9253-4609-96d0-d683cdd9f77d

Its more like, "I want to spend as much time as possible developing my spiritual practice and astral body before Burning Man so I can use my yogic discipline to help create a transcendant event. Needless to say, by time I'm in a position to do that effectively, I should have enough siddhis to enter the event unnoticed, maintain anonymity, and make it out all while surviving on a minimum of water, and food. On another note, I would also expect that those same siddhis would make earning capital enough for the event a rather simple endeavor. Mostly I just want to attend because last time I tapped into my center, the voice told me that many people will be offended if I did not attend in my greater incarnation. That being said, I guess part of the yogic path is learning not to care if people are offended. So nevermind. I'll spend this time focusing on Raja yoga.

That being said, maybe if I have the Hanuman Chalisa memorized by then, and have gotten some experience performing Hanuman pujas then I might be able to find a spiritually minded camp to sponsor me. After all, Burning Man is chock full of Mars energy. Of course, by this time next year, I expect to be working with energy healing and will have an even greater service to provide at Burning Man.

Oh, and in my humble opinion, letting poor yogis (the most common kind) attend the event would probably do a lot more to sustain the event than detract from it. We eat little, don't drink alcohol or do drugs. And radiating positive pranic waves might be considered as valuable as many other services you find out there. I also work hard without expectation of rewards, and rarely complain. Oh, and then there is my lovely singing voice. =)

As for why I am not willing to go earn 250$ before the event, I never said I wasn't. I would just rather spend my time delving into Vedic science, and learning yogic and healing arts until the very last minute, the better to be an uplifting presence, rather than a depressing influence. So perhaps I'll just pass this year and wait until I have developed the will and discipline to do whatever I want, and to know the answers to questions before I have to ask them on Tribe.

Magickal Midwifery

http://vancouver.tribe.net/listing/Magickal-Midwifery-or-Hospital-Sterility-The-Choice/vancouver/f3674ddc-8d5b-4ad6-a594-98168d999f55

Any day now, the little one comes.
The tiny speck of life that took root inside of me has now blossoming into a full fledged being rolling around inside my tummy, exploring the dimensions of my belly with surges of activity that are amazing to watch from the outside looking down. Incredible to feel that inside your own body, something I’ve used for my own purposes all my life has become the center of life source for another. Wow. I wake up in the night and surf the waves of blissful loving energy that seem to be emanating from me pretty constantly lately, the shine I had before is now stoked up to the brilliance of a bonfire by what is going on inside the birthing chamber of my belly.

And she’s almost at the point of entrance into our reality.

So now comes a choice, one that I need help facilitating.
My partner and I have the option of having a home birthing amidst the mists emanating off Mt Elphinstone, among those residents of the place striving to create mythic realities for themselves through their artistry and visions. In the cabin of just such people, surrounded by the works of visionary artist Luke Brown (www.spectral eyes.com) who channels his inspirations from resonant frequencies most high and blows my mind with what he summons into this reality and his goddess partner Isis, who moved me to tears during a prayer:formance this summer at Shambhala. They are in Bali and have kindly offered the use of their homespace as a birthing place. On the ocean by a birth opening formed by Mother Nature herself, source of stories of inspiration from many of those who have come upon it, this giant yoni in the rocks at the beach would be the guiding force for our little faery girl into this world, aided by the gentle, loving hands of midwives. And with the beautiful energies of Mandai Kandaitou given to this baby in a gesture of pure, unselfish lovingness as she has generously offered to be doula (aka birth slave!) to me after the birth.

So I can birth in the manner I saw in my vision when I first became aware that I was pregnant while at Burning Man this year.

Or I can opt for a hospital birth with a doctor, in a sterile hospital environment in my hometown of Victoria where I grew up. My mom would be most pleased with the safety of this option, the (to her) risk free hospital environment is the proper place for birthing. But I’m such a naturalist who feels like pregnancy is a magical journey to be worshipped and celebrated, not treated like an illness, that it’s tough for me to resign myself to this path. The irony of the situation is that the hospital birth would be completely financially covered. In order to achieve our goal of a natural home birth, however, we need money. Funds to take the number of ferries from Victoria to the Sunshine Coast. Financial flow to give the midwife we want to attend our birth, who is incredibly gifted but not covered under the policies of the Canadian medical system. Something to donate towards the generous gift of the cabin as some financial help with covering the rent this month would greatly ease the minds of the owners, artists are always struggling to make ends meet and I’d love to be able to help in this regard as the gift of such a beautiful birthing spot is a huge boon to us.

My partner and I had saved up a nice little nest egg of cash for the baby’s birth but it was recently decimated by the breakdown of our van, our home-away-from-home and a crucial element in traveling with our baby and our ability to make money from all the objects we’ve spent the winter crafting to support ourselves at the summer markets and festivals. After a lot of thought, we made the tough decision to repair our vehicle and now can’t afford any extra costs until we can start selling some of our products at the summer markets.

So if you know Robb and I and wanted to give us a birthing gift, now’s the time. If we have ever lent you money, helped you in the middle of the night, if you’ve attended one of the conscious events and parties we’ve spent countless hours, energies, efforts (and usually quite a bit of our own cash) manifesting into reality or we’ve ever given you something you’d like to return the favor on, we could really use it now. Or if you are one of those inspiring human beings that love to help others, we have much to offer in return for the help in the way of skills (among many things, I’m a professional writer and Robb is an accomplished builder) or products from our line of handmade stilts, clothing, horns, fire performance gear, medicinal teas, furniture and an eclectic selection of items made mostly from harvested, recycled or reclaimed materials.

No matter what the manner of birth ends up being, I’m so ecstatic that this little girl will get to grow up surrounded by tribal communities of light workers who dedicate their energies towards raising the level of love and light in this reality.

Thank you all for being the beings you are,
Lilith the Chameleon, mama-to-be very shortly!!!

My partner's mom is also in LA and can deposit into his bank account for us, in response to questions from the LA family who've been asking....you crazy crew of radiant beings, you!!!

blessings,
Lilith and Robb

hello, hello, hello....

i write on behalf of a wonderful group of humans who have just recently embarked on a phenomenal journey together. We have been planning a 4 and a half month wilderness backpacking trip together for over 15 months, and we left yesterday from santa cruz heading to a grandmother's commune in Arizona where the grandmothers are waiting for us to hold three days of send-off ceremony...

however, our biodiesel landrover broke down on our way up the grapevine... we blew the head gasket...

we are looking for a new diesel 10-15 passanger van, or someone to buy our biodisel landrover once we fix the gasket, or any other way that we may continue on our journey while trying to maintain our commitement to commuting sustainably....

any help or suggestions you have... including a mechanic that can work on foreign cars for a REALLY reasonable price (we are already THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OVER OUR BUDGET!!! we would appreciate it so much....

thankyou and the big ol blessings,
The Us Institute,
a bunch of sweet souls lookin to manifest our journey in ease!

My name is Christoph, and I am almost 41 years (in June) young. Every since I was a child I had the strong desire to grasp the meaning of existence, trying to understand the motivation behind human behavior, the underlying reasons for suffering, conflict, violence and war. This quest has lead me through some very unique and life transforming experiences, all of which have provided me with much significant insight and knowledge.

The product of my life long studies is realize2actualize, a very practical and empowering philosophy of life and living, dedicated to the study of how we create our own reality.

I am now in the process of building my practice as motivational and inspirational speaker, personal growth facilitator, life coach, teacher and writer.
My life has been filled with quite a few challenges, all of which have lead me to this very unique point. Originally I am from Germany, but I moved and lived in Kansas in January of 1991, where I was married to an African American lady for 12 years. 3 amazing children were born out of this marriage, which was filled with a great amount of suffering and drama. After almost a decade of problems, and as a last attempt to reconcile our differences we sent our children in March of 2000 to live with my wifes sister here in San Francisco. After 2 more long years of going through marriage therapy, and after all attempts to save the marriage failed I finally made the long overdue decision to file for divorce, which was finally granted in Febuary of 2003. Since my children lived in California, and in order to become reunited with them I quit my job which I had for more than 10 years in order to move from Kansas to San Francisco, when the following day I became the victim of a hit and run accident, and even though only my left leg got broken in the process I was left penniless and without a home.

I finally moved to SF around Christmas of 2003, when I stayed in a shelter for a little more than 4 month, before a kind soul responsed to my ad on craiglist, and he allowed me to be his guest (without having to pay any rent) in his one bedroom apartment in the upper Haight Ashbury. There I stayed for 2 1 /2 years, which allowed me to regain some of my spiritual, emotional and physical strength.

As of March of 2005 I started working a full time job in telemarketing, and since then have moved several times. Most of the places I moved into were shared living arrangements which did not allow me the privacy to concentrate on my work, and so I have been back and forth between staying in a youth hostel (where I stayed twice), an in home care situation, and a few other living situations which never really allowed the the space to concentrate on my work.

What I am looking for is a comfortable room in a good location in San Francisco, preferrably with basic furniture such as a bed, desk and chair. While I dont have a problem with sharing an apartment with other people I would need to have the kind of workspace with a desk for my computer, access to the internet, and and a small personal space to allow me to focus on my work.

I am in the process of getting my first clients, and putting together a regular study group and workshop, so it would be wonderful if this is something which I could do from my new home. Also, I am also beginning to write and publish small articles, and starting on a book, and so I would need to be be able to fully concentrate on my writing.

Since my 3 children are not living with me I am trying to create the kind of income necessary to be reuinted with them. This is my main focus, my main motivational force, and so I am very serious about finding a temporary place for at least 6 month to be able to concentrate on my work. It would be also nice if you have the kind of place which would make it possible for my 3 teenage children, or at least one of them to visit once every 2 weeks or so and maybe spend the night.

My credit requires some serious rebuilding, and so I am not able to come up with a deposit, and I cannot afford a lot of money at this point, but there is something else I can contribute to your household; other than helping with basic chores around the house I could serve as your personal life coach and mentor who is helping you be-come inspired, motivated and empowered to deal with life's problems and challenges in a more positive and pro-active way, and develop a whole new attitude and outlook in life. For more information on who I am, and to get information on my work please check out my personal website: realize2actualize.googlepages.com
Christoph Ebert

I have a few 'basic chores' I can help HIM with...it involves firearms and a messy clean-up operation.
but the long and the short of it (no pun intended) is the body of the ad contains the following words:
slave
cock

movie night April 5: "Himalaya"

Hello everyone,

One of the advantages of living in an artist live/work is that we can watch movies on a big screen with a digital projector. So I'm going to have a little private get-together this Thursday in the Encounter Studio space, and we're watching the movie "Himalaya." If you'd like to join us, just drop me a line. Hope to see you then!

--Aaron

--------------

Thursday April 5, 2007
Doors open at 7:30, movie starts at 8:00 pm

Bring your own whatever. Kid-friendly environment, but this movie is subtitled. Please don't bring pets.

"Himalaya"
aka "L'enfance d'un chef" (The Childhood of a Chief)

1999, color, 108 minutes
Tibetan language with English subtitles
Directed by Eric Valli

Dr. Yo says:

First-time director Eric Valli did well with the breathtakingly beatiful "Himalaya," as it has enjoyed wide distribution and was nominated for an Academy Award. It's a realistic fiction depicting the life of ethnic Tibetans living on the northwestern border of Nepal. Valli, a Swiss photographer, lived in the Dolpo region for 15 years before making the film, and it shows his love of the place and its people.

The story concerns tribal conflicts surrounding the annual trade of salt for grain. The climate of the region is harsh, and in order to survive, villagers must trade salt for grain. Using a caravan of yaks, they haul the salt down treacherous mountain passes to a town, where they can trade it for grain. The cinematography of this film is spectacular, and its realism verges on documentary while still engaging the audience in a passionate dramatic narrative.

Lingam Worship 101

http://www.philhine.org.uk/writings/tt_lingam.html

Bathing the Phallus

Bathing the phallus is a ritual act of purification, preparing it to become the vehicle of the indwelling deity. This may be done as a ritual oblation or by tongue-bathing.

Nyasa

Nyasa (placing) is the ritual act of identifying the body (or part, in this case) with the indwelling deity. Again this may be done ritually, or silently, through massage and stroking.

Om, I salute Shiva in the balls
Na, I salute Shiva in the root
Ma, I salute Shiva in the shaft
Shi, I salute Shiva in the crown
Va, I salute Shiva in the tip
Ya, I salute Shiva in the eye

Invoking the Deity

Invoking the chosen deity (i.e. Shiva) into the vessel is traditionally performed by the practitioner identifying with the deity through internal meditation and then externalising the indwelling deity into the vessel via the breath. Here, it may be appropriate to identify oneself with Agni (see above) before simultaneously breathing onto and stroking the penis so that it becomes a vessel for divinity.

Adoring the Lingam

Having installed the deity into the penis, it may now be adored. One may choose to use the delightful prose of the tantras or something more contemporary, depending on circumstances. Some partners might be somewhat alarmed to hear their cock described as "shining with the light of ten thousand suns."

Superior Coition

The Kama Sutra describes the ‘eight ways’ of performing fellatio:

Casual

Clasping the penis with one hand, bringing the lips close, rounding them over the mast, whilst pressing, releasing and shaking.

Nibbling the sides

Covering the end of the penis with one hand, pressing the lips to the sides and nibbling slightly at the same time.

External Pinching

Bringing his lips close to the penis, he presses the mast and kisses it whilst sucking. When the sex has been stimulated by being nibbled along the sides, he himself, excited at the first contact with his lips, lets the end of the penis penetrate into his mouth, pressing it and sucking and, having bared it, he releases it.

Internal Pinching

On request, he then lets the penis penetrate further, and, pressing it between his lips, causes an ejaculation.

The Kiss

Encircling the penis with his hand instead of his lips, he kisses it. Let the tip of the tongue wander and titillate
